4. Excess Salt

A high concentration of salt can be found in a lot of popular products like cereal, cheese, and pizza.

Salt causes the body to retain water and gives you that puffy look. It causes the cells to shrink and leads to dehydration, leaving the skin with lots of wrinkles.

Examples of salty food;

  • Canned meat, fish, and sausages.
  • Sandwiches.

Furthermore, the Sodium component contained in salt is known to cause heart diseases, accelerate aging, and lead to obesity.

5. Red meat

Red meat contains a valuable source of iron, vitamin B, and D but it also contains serum phosphate which causes faster aging. Fatty meat generates free radicals.

Free radical affects the ability of the skin to protect itself and generate collagen.  Eating too much red meat and not enough fruits and vegetables could increase the body’s biological age, high mortality, and kidney disease.

However maintaining the healthy levels of protein, iron and other vitamins found in meat could be the key to longer life, explained Dr. Paul Timmers, Lead researcher at the MRC Human Genetics Unit at the University of Edinburgh.

Examples of Red meat.

  • Beef.
  • Lamb
  • Veal
  • Pork

But this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t eat red meat at all. Eat proportionately, not in excess. The best meat with less radical is lean meat such as Turkey and chicken, all of which are rich in antioxidants.

6. Microwaved food

Microwaving food is a fast way of preparing and heating up but you might want to think of the harmful radiation you are exposing your body to.

Microwaving exposes you to harmful radiation which can lead to cancer. And since the heat from microwaved food isn’t usually enough to kill some microorganism spores that may be in the food, it can also lead to food poisoning.

Furthermore, carcinogenic toxins are released out of the plastic containers used to heat food in the microwave which is not good for the body.

Side effects of eating microwaved food;

  • It causes cancer.
  • Food poisoning from food not properly heated in the microwave.
  • High sodium in microwave-ready meals leads to water retention, high blood pressure

7. Trans fat

This is found in fast foods, dried fried foods, margarine, and deep-fried foods.

These foods can cause heart disease and stiffen the arteries or constrict blood vessels, this weakens blood flow to the skin and causes premature aging and wrinkles.

It could also make your skin vulnerable to UV rays giving you sunburns.
